Relentless

There isn’t a word that better describes the whirlwind of passion that is me + my devotion to my craft.

I’m a writer, editorial director, art director, and author with a 28-year career telling stories that connect — from the front page of the Dallas Morning News to Fortune 500 boardrooms to bedtime storybooks.

My name is Rachel J. Horton. A journalist turned content strategist, I’ve led content and creative teams, as well as internal and external communications teams. I’ve led a rebrand at Texas Instruments with ~$150 million of revenue across the first 6 campaigns over an 18-month period. I’ve built a thought leadership platform for one of the world’s leading tech brands. I’ve advised senior leadership across healthcare, law and tech on how to create and define values that resonate with an organization while driving it foward, aligned with long-term vision and goals. I’ve ghostwritten for 2 CEOs, a leading tech influencer and a sitting district attorney, to name a few.

I started writing poetry at 11 and moved into writing songs at 14. I’ve written every in multiple genres, from screenplay to multiple styles of video to journalistic features, profiles, narratives, breaking news, children’s books, songs, and now, a novel that will debut in 2025.

This site demonstrates my work across industries and genres - including print articles that were never placed on the internet until now.

I’m a writer, editorial director, author, art director, image creator, mentor and leader. But at the center of it all, I’m an expert at finding and telling stories that matter and connect — and I know how to analyze my audience to understand the best way to present my story.

I’ve authored and self-published three children’s books including Wally the Wooly, Wandering Walrus, and I’ve completed my first novel, Red Lotus: The Way Back — a fictionalized memoir about reclaiming personal power.

Through every stage of my career, one thing has remained constant: my belief in the transformative power of the written word. Whether I’m writing for an audience of many or one child before bedtime, I bring empathy, clarity, and a deep sense of purpose to every story I tell.

When I’m not writing, you can find me painting, making candles, or hanging out with my daughter, my husband, and my beloved dogs — Lucy Lou and Little Bit — in Dallas, Texas.
